Fire + Water

This past weekend I purchased this beautiful vase from Anthropologie. I first spotted it in LA when I was there last weekend and just had to have it.

It has my all-time favorite color combination of turquoise and coral. There is no more beautiful pairing in my mind. Here is the vase:

Here are some other pretty turquoise and coral combinations for you...

This necklace makes a plain shirt a little more interesting. Wouldn't it be fun layered over a preppy stripped shirt?

Spring Shopping List

Here is my list of must-haves to update the wardrobe for spring...

1. Leather wedge sandals
Medium height, brown leather, like these from Aerosoles that are a good height (and hopefully comfy too!)

2. A Lightweight Jacket
I get a new one for my "collection" nearly every year. They go with everything and protect from the SF fog. I like this one because of the feminine ruffles.

3. Something white and lacy
Perfect for bridal showers and brunches. Match with the above shoes and chunky jewelry to toughen it up a bit.

4. A bright, artsy scarf
To spice up my existing wardrobe (and add to my growing collection of scarves)

 5. A piece of jewelry with a tassel
This has an antique feel and it will swing as you walk.

6. A new pair of shades
I do live in California so this is a must. It is amazing how a different pair of sunglasses can change your look.

What's on your list for spring shopping?

Rainy Sun!

Hello from LA!

We were so lucky that we finished our work today before the cats and dogs began falling from the sky. It is so rainy down here now. Although I won't let that stop me from enjoying my mini-vacation, I thought that these pictures were perfect for rainy LA (sunny and happy but wet wet wet!) Enjoy!

For the Gentlemen...

Now that one of the most girly of holidays of the year has passed, it's time to focus on the gentlemen in our lives.

As I am sure that you have noticed, I favor more feminine styles but sometimes its all about finding a balance. Just because you are trying to create a place that is more gentlemen friendly, doesn't mean you need to give up any of your style.

Here are several rooms that seem to strike the balance between being a little bit masculine while still having some delicate feminine elements.

This room is neutral but not boring at all. The details like the striped wallpaper and the glamorous table keep it feminine while the pops of black keep it grounded and sophisticated. The other important thing to note is all of the texture (frames, stacked books etc.)

This room from the new Esquire Home Collection, is very masculine but still feels inviting. To make it more feminine I would probably remove either two of the leather chairs or the leather couch and replace with a fabric couch to break up the leather and maybe add some patterned, colorful throw pillows.

To me this bedroom strikes a balance between feminine and masculine. The sheets are very feminine but the dark wood brings everything together and keeps it from being too frilly.

Along the same lines, this duvet set from West Elm in this beautiful dusty slate blue color provides interesting texture and when paired with this headboard really comes together nicely.

Another option from West Elm is this bedding which I am really loving...

To round it up...here is a list of some essentials to keeping the balance.

Happy Valentine's Day to all!

May I get you a tray for that?

Trays are one of the most useful decorating accessories because they contain the clutter. They can be used in the living room as a hard surface on an ottoman to set drinks, or in the kitchen to serve treats or in the bedroom to display perfumes.

There are as many trays as the functions they serve, here are some of my favorites...

I lust after these fabulous monogram trays from IOMOI. Wouldn't it be the most wonderful present to get a monogrammed one?

Talk about a pop of color (and some hardware with attitude).

A piece of art itself. Perfect for next to your bedside table.

Create a small table with a tray + a stand.
Make your jewelry the center of attention.

Delicate flowers bloom from this lovely white tray.
