HOLIDAYS IN HAWAII

For the next few days I will be in Hawaii enjoying some much needed relaxation. I hope you are having a lovely holiday with your family and friends. See you in the New Year!

TROPICAL BREEZES

Let's take a break from peppermint and pine, lights and sparkles and go to a place where plumerias scent the air and waves break on the shore. I'm talking about the tropics. Next week I am off to Hawaii for a week with my family. I plan on doing absolutely nothing except laying on the beach and snorkeling (maybe fitting in some cocktails and potentially doing beach yoga)

.....It is so hard to think of the tropics while wearing a wool sweater and boots but here is my attempt to get inspired about that place so far away...

ONE FOR ME...ONE FOR YOU

I had another post planned for today. But I was browsing LA by the Bay's blog and saw the chloe + isabel giveaway. I decided to do a little more digging and what I found was a beautiful collection of stylish jewels at very affordable prices (ok this is starting to sound like a sales pitch, promise it's not). Here are my favorite baubles from them...you deserve a little present for yourself.

HOLIDAY TARTAN

When people ask me what my heritage is I usually just say Mediterranean because it covers most of the countries I am from (Greece, Spain, France) but the funny thing is that my biggest percentage is actually Irish and Scottish. I think that is why, as a child, I happily Riverdanced around my grandma's living room to Celtic music.

I think it is also why I am attracted to traditional tartans for the holidays. I have seen this very classic pattern used in modern ways this holiday season. Here are my favorites...

WHAT TO GET?

There are some people that you run out to buy presents for. You know exactly what they will like and where to find it. Sometimes (most of the time) those "people" are actually children. Buying children's presents is so much more fun than buying "adult" (ew not in that way) presents.

I thought I would help you out and make up gift lists for the most challenging people on your list: in-laws/family friends, bosses and parents. Did I miss anyone that is tough to buy presents for?

STOCKING STARS

Stocking stuffers are tough--it seems like you cant get much these days for under $20 (that is nicely made and will be used past Christmas morning). Personally, I would rather get less things but in better quality that i can use for awhile.

I found a whole stocking full of fun treats in very bright colors that are sure to light up someone's Christmas morning. What is your favorite thing to get in your stocking?

GLAM HOSTESS WITH THE MOST-EST

The holiday parties have started and it seems like one comes right after the next. These hostess gifts are perfect for those that want something glamorous to give (and they are at a variety of price ranges so there is something for everyone!)

COLOR VS COLOR

Late Wednesday they announced the Pantone color of the year, Emerald. The actual color they selected is a little lighter than what I think of true Emerald as. I'm also more of a hunter or kelly green girl myself. Im sure we will be seeing a lot more of this color. Cant wait to see what beauty products Sephora comes out with (lets hope its not lipstick)

The other color of the year is Aloe from Sherwin Williams. This mint/seafoam color has been trending for a while now but I am happy that it's official.

Which color of the year do you like better?

WOODSY CHRISTMAS

Gift guides are one of my favorite parts of blogging over the holidays. This year I wanted to provide unique takes on the traditional gift guide. I have roughly organized the prices from low to high and hope to bring new categories that you havent seen before.

First up is woodsy Christmas. You dont have to live in a log cabin to appreciate nature-inspired, cozy pieces like these.

HOT PINK CHRISTMAS

I never was much of a pink girl. But lately I have been paying more attention to pink. Since neons started showing up on runways last year, it seems like hot pink is everywhere (and not for only little girls anymore!)

It has even been incorporated in modern holiday decor. It looks great paired with silver or gold (but I prefer gold!) Here are a few inspirational pics and how to dine, decorate and dress in hot pink for the holiday.
