I've got a super easy, tasty summer recipe for you today. It only takes three simple ingredients to make a delicious appetizer. My Dad cooked up this recipe based on a restaurant in Santa Barbara, Brophy's, and serves it regularly at home. This week I'm up in Seattle and got to try them. I thought it would be a perfect recipe to share because its great to have as an appetizer with friends.
Makes enough for about 2-4 people. Double the recipe for a larger group.
1/4 cup pickling spices
1 Beer (a lager works best but we only had Corona on hand)
1 lb of shrimp in their shell (heads removed)
Step No. 1
Step No. 2
Put pickling spices and beer in a saucepan over high heat.
Step No. 3
Once bubbles start to form, and mixture begins to boil, add shrimp.
Step No. 4
Cook for about 5 minutes until the shrimp turn pink and are cooked through. Pour contents of saucepan into a colander.
Step No. 5
Serve immediately with cocktail sauce (extra horseradish if you like it spicy) and lemons. The rose is optional ;-) Enjoy with friends outside.
