I love when I find a healthy veggie that I just can't stop eating. It's the right kind of snacking. That's how I feel about these simple roasted brussels sprouts. For the past three weeks I have been making these at least once a week and have to rein myself in from eating too many (a good problem to have, right?!)
The trick to making these extra delicious is maple syrup. It makes them caramelized and oh-so-delicious. And although the title "Best Brussels Sprouts" might seem quite the statement, after eating these you might agree with me.
1 lb of brussels sprouts
2 Tbsp of maple syrup
2 Tbsp of olive oil
Salt (see note below)
Step No 1
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Steam the brussels spouts in the microwave for 2 minutes. This helps cook them a little bit so they aren't raw on the inside and charred on the outside.
Slice into halves (or quarters, depending on what you like) and place on a baking sheet
Step No. 2
Drizzle maple syrup and olive oil over halved brussels sprouts.
Step No 3
Sprinkle salt and pepper. My roasting secret is using this herbed salt from France. It adds a wonderful flavor to roasted foods and I even add it to my eggs sometimes. Because the salt is larger, you dont need to add as much.
Step No 4
Using your hands, ensure that the brussels sprouts are throughly coated.
Step No 5
Place in oven for 15 - 20 minutes until very brown and some leaves are burned. It is important to really get everything good and roasted.
Enjoy and try not eat them all.
