REAL GIRL BEAUTY: NYFW SPR 2016

Have you guys been tuning into to New York fashion week? I have been enjoying the glimpses here and there of the shows through social media. I always find it so inspirational to see the creative looks from the designers. Since I started working in makeup, I have now been paying even more attention to the makeup looks on the runway. I wanted to share a few of my favorites with you and how you can get them yourself.

Cushine et Ochs - First of all, this model is gorgeous! Just look at those brows and that cheek structure! Incredible. This look is totally do-able at home. First using a khol liner, line the waterline of both upper and lower lashes. I think that we are going to be seeing a lot more of this kohl look through spring. Then pair the lined eyes with a rich purple matte lipstick (like this Marc Jacobs lipstick in Scandal, named after Olivia Pope) Finish the look by lightly contouring cheekbones. Brush bronzer in hollows of the cheeks, under the cheekbones.

Jason Wu - This look is also demonstrating a new trend, glossy lids. Shiny lids have been trending on the runways for a few seasons now and I think it will start to trickle into the real world. To get the glossy lid look, just use a tinted balm and swipe over lids. I would keep it on the more neutral side if you want to dip your toe in the trend. For lips, the team at Jason Wu actually layered blush on top of lipstick then patted on pure pigment. For a more approachable at home look, layer lipstick with a dusting of matching blush for a velvet finish.

Kate Spade - I always fall in love with the looks at Kate Spade. They are so playful and usually, I want at least one of the cute handbags. This season was no exception. The makeup was especially playful with a metallic silver liner and baby pink lips. Silver, like white, helps brighten the eyes and helps you appear more awake (amen!) The pink adds a touch of playfulness. Just go one shade lighter than your natural tone and keep it a satin to keep it from looking too 60s mod. I also like how they kept the skin very natural and luminous to counteract the bold colors. To finish the look off, add flirty false lashes.
