Another fun thing we did with my mom this weekend was visit the SF Antiques show. While I wasn't going to be picking up any pieces myself (with price tags of $40k and up!) I did find so much inspiration in the show. It is sometimes good to get out and get inspiration from sources that you normally wouldn't think of.
I always love looking at antiques. I think that it is maybe a habit I picked up from my mom. She always was scouring trying to find interesting objects and pieces of furniture for our home. To me antiques are fascinating because they each tell a story. Where has it been? What was it's purpose to the original owner?
Here are a few things that caught my eye at the show...
I mean GOLD! It nearly screams out at you. Go big or go home, right?!
I love a good convex mirror. This one had a sweet feeling it it because of the petals.
This is one of my favorite images from the show. I can't resist antique jewels.
Love the bold shades in this tapestry. I especially am drawn to the faded indigo.
These flowers were on the tables of a luncheon they were hosting. My favorite soft shades of flowers that mimicked the antiques perfectly.
Yellow flowers in all of their forms paired with the most gorgeous of frames.
At some of the booths the flowers were almost as impressive as the antiques. I love the combination of textures here.
My favorite room by far. I can resist a beautiful hand-painted chinoiserie pattern (especially in mint)
Am I in Versailles? No just a exhibition hall in SF.
See what I mean about the flowers?!
Little wood detail. Rustic and ornate at the same time.
Another beautiful tapestry.
This booth was filled with lovely mid-century pieces. Interesting idea of putting a mirror off-centered.
Overall it was a really fun show filled with so many ideas and possibilities. It's got me quite inspired!
