CHALLAH FOR THE WEEKEND
Summer has faded for most people but in SF we are just getting started. After one of the worst weather Augusts in the last 100 years, I honestly can't wait for September and the warm weather it brings.
If you were tuned into Instagram last weekend you saw that I made my first attempt at challah bread. I was inspired by a Facebook posts of all things, to make challah in a plastic bag. So that doesn't sound very fancy, does it? But it doesn't need to be fancy to taste good. And I am here to testify that this challah was more than good. I made it into cinnamon and sugar challah because I just couldn't help myself. Next time I'm putting cinnamon IN the batter to make it even more cinnamon-ey (spell check said that wasn't a word)
Paired perfectly with the challah is Starbucks Iced White Mocha Frappucino. While I recently have been slurping down those amazing Iced Coconut Macchiatos, this comes in a close second. If you like it on the sweeter side you can just pour over ice and enjoy as is. I like to add a shot of espresso or some iced coffee to give it an extra kick. And an extra kick is just what this weekend needs.
Enjoy getting other there this weekend...or just staying in and lounging. Both options are equally as amazing.
Find the challah in a bag recipie here. To make it cinnamon and sugar, just mix 1 tbsp cinnamon with 1 cup sugar and dip the strands in the cinnamon and sugar mix. Then, after brushing the egg on the top, dust liberally with cinnamon and sugar. Next time I'm adding cinnamon in the batter so feel free to do that too.
