36 HOURS IN TIMBER COVE

One of my favorite things about living in San Francisco is the proximity to easy weekend getaways including up the coast, to Napa/Somoma and Tahoe. For the MLK holiday, my boyfriend (more on that later) and I snagged an amazing deal on Groupon (#notsponsored) for Timber Cove. I had been awhile back with a group of girlfriends and I couldn’t get the experience out of my head.

Timber Cove is something special. You arrive on a stomach-turning highway to a foggy hideaway that is a sharp turn towards the ocean. The hotel sits on a dramatic cliff with the ocean on either side of you. When you arrive there is something intangible about the magic of the space. It is an old lodge that was restored by somehow fusing mid-century modern touches with cabin vibes to create something totally unique. Once you step in the front doors it feels family run yet sophisticated at the same time. The restaurant is incredible and could rival somewhere in San Francisco or New York, which is pretty amazing given the remoteness of the hotel.

I could go on forever but here are 5 quick tips for 36 Hours in Timber Cove.

STAY // Timber Cove

EAT // Coast Kitchen

Forgo driving the windy roads at night and just stay in. The food here is the best plus, after dinner you don’t have to walk far for a nightcap in the lobby fireside (they have board games too!)

VISIT // Bodgea Bay

This sleepy little fishing village was the perfect 40 min drive south from Timber Cove. We stopped by Fisherman’s Cove for some of the best oysters and crab sandwiches I’ve ever had!

HIKE // Salt Point Park

This was such a lovely surprise. One of the most scenic hikes I’ve gone on in awhile. Perfect for getting a little exercise in between crab sandwiches and board games. The waves were beautiful! Highly recommend.

One more bonus tip, if you are headed back to San Francisco stop by Freestone to Wild Flour Bread Bakery for the best bread ever. Make sure to bring your cash and stock up on the most delicious bread.
